Us
Behala College, established in 1963, is an undergraduate college in Kolkata and it offers post graduate courses also. It is affiliated to the University of Calcutta.
The College Library is an open-access library with a collection of approximately 27,000 books. Books are classified by using DDC23 classification schedule and catalogued by using AACR2 cataloguing schedule. The Library is partially automated. Koha, a library automation software, is in use for creating the Library database. Library books are RFID tagged. Users are using Drop Box for submission of library books. Every year Library celebrates Library Day on 20th December. The best users of the library get awarded on that day. The Library has its Book Bank also.
In addition to the Central Library, every department has a seminar library. These seminar libraries have been built up with the aim of providing easy access of books. Seminar libraries are being totally controlled by the department concerned.
M.A. and M.Sc. Regular Courses in Bengali, History and Chemistry affiliated under Calcutta University.
